Founder, Visionary, + Executive Director

Doc Harrill (aka Dee Jay Doc)

Doc started Refresh Collective in 2011 as a free neighborhood hip-hop summer camp that has grown into a multimodal arts-based youth development organization, serving students and adults in Cleveland and Cincinnati. He has been an emcee, turntablist, producer, recording engineer, and performer for over 30 years. During the founding years of Refresh Collective, he personally helped  over 10,000 youth write, record and perform  their own songs.

Unique Skill: Beat juggling on two turntables with my two big toes.

Lee Harrill

Lee joined Refresh Collective in 2015 as a teaching artist and now oversees all Cincinnati programming and operations for all of Refresh. He has eighteen years of experience leading teams of creatives, mentoring new and experienced leaders, and building systems and infrastructure on creative teams. He is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, emcee and a singer/songwriter; his favorite thing to do is build bridges of trust between people and organizations.

Jeremy Bryan aka “Quill the Messenger”

Director of Hip Hop Pedagogy

Jeremy holds a Masters in Liberal Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.  His area of expertise is unleashing his own and other’s inner “MC '' by helping others master their craft, move crowds, and make change. Jeremy’s favorite part about teaching is the possibility of deep insight and discovery of both the subject being studied and the self doing the studying. 

Favorite Concert I’ve Performed: 
I got to rock the mic onstage with Common at the Orpheum in Madison, Wisconsin.

Cheryl Tournoux

Cheryl began her career in New York City teaching middle school. While teaching, she earned her Masters in education from The City College of New York.  She uses her years of experience in education to guide our programming to ensure the best experience for students.

Kayla Meade

A multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, Kayla’s bread and butter is leading a band.  She applies her experience of leading and growing teams to create welcoming environments where students can grow in confidence and skills. Her superpower is making people feel seen and known, even while leading and teaching them new concepts and material.Go-to

Teaching Artist

Jonah Price

Jonah earned a Master’s Certificate in Music Production and Analysis from Berklee College of Music in 2015. Since then, he has launched a successful career in music and streaming. He has worked with many popular artists, including Bas, KSI, and Futuristic. Jonah’s favorite part of teaching is giving students a space to express themselves musically and creatively.
