After School and Summer Time
Refresh Collective hosts after-school and summer programs at partner locations for students to learn self-expression and skill-building through hip-hop culture. By producing beats, writing rhymes and making music videos, our youth are sharpening their story and their message for personal and community change.
After School Programs
Our after-school programs blend the same authentic cypher-style pedagogy and trauma-informed hip-hop education found in our studio classrooms and summer camps, providing students with comprehensive music production, songwriting, and performance experiences at partner institutions where we help build professional-grade studios (if needed). They gain skills in beat-making, lyric writing, and creative collaboration through our signature collaborative learning circles that build confidence and community connection, creating pathways for students to discover their voice and develop as tomorrow's change-makers.
1-Week Summer Camps
Our "Fresh Camp" is a one week experience designed to allow students to gain beginner level skills in music production, lyric writing, recording arts, and performance. They collaborate together to create a healthy message that will be shared with their community.
6-Week Summer Job Programs
Every summer, Refresh Collective hosts our flagship program, the Fresh Force Summer Job Program. During this 6-week intensive, students gain advanced skills in music production, lyric-writing, performance, videography, and social media marketing.
Partnering with Youth Opportunities Unlimited allows students to be paid which makes this a legitimate summer job designed to springboard students into more advanced internships and careers.
